Doom Scroll · K180 Studios
Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026
The short version
- What we collect: your name and email, only if you sign up for updates.
- What we do with it: send you K180’s newsletter, with news about Doom Scroll (like the trailer and the release) and K180’s other films. Nothing else.
- Cookies for analytics only, no ads. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity show us how people find the film; in Europe and the UK they run only if you allow them.
- You’re in control: unsubscribe from any email, or ask us to delete your details.
This website, doomscrollthemovie.com, is for Doom Scroll, a film by K180 Studios (“K180”, “we”, “us” or “our”). This policy explains what information the site collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It follows K180 Studios’ own privacy policy, adapted to this site.
1. Information we collect
1.1 What you give us
When you sign up for updates, you give us your name and email address. That’s all the form asks for.
1.2 Collected automatically
- When you sign up, we also record when you signed up, which of our addresses you used, and the country your connection comes from (our hosting provider tells us).
- To stop automated spam, we keep a salted, scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address with your sign-up for about two hours, then delete it. The sign-up forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks in the background that a person, not a bot, is signing up. It doesn’t use cookies for tracking or advertising.
- We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you. It gives us totals, like how many visits and from which countries.
1.3 Cookies and storage in your browser
This site uses no advertising tools. It uses two analytics tools that set cookies, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (sections 1.4 and 1.5). In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, they run only if you choose “Allow” on the small bar that appears after the film’s opening, and you can change your choice at any time with “Privacy choices” at the foot of the home page. Elsewhere, they run when you visit.
The site also remembers a few small things in your own browser’s storage, which never leave your device:
- how many times you’ve visited, when the sign-up box last appeared, and whether you’ve signed up, so we don’t ask you again too often;
- if you’re asked for a privacy choice, the choice you made.
You can clear these, and any cookies, at any time in your browser’s settings.
1.4 Google Analytics
To understand how people find and use the site, we use Google Analytics. It tells us, in total, how many visits and pages were viewed, how visitors arrived (for example from a search engine or a link), roughly where they are (country and city, worked out from the IP address, which Google Analytics doesn’t store), and what kind of device and browser they use. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) that recognize a returning browser for up to two years. We use it for analytics only: its advertising features and Google signals are off. For how Google handles this data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
1.5 Microsoft Clarity
To see how the site works for the people using it, we use Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors move through the site (clicks, scrolling) as heatmaps and session replays. What you type into a form is hidden from it. It uses first- and third-party cookies (such as _clck and _clsk). We use it for analytics only, never for advertising. For how Microsoft handles this data, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
2. How we use your information
- To send you K180’s newsletter by email: news about Doom Scroll, such as the trailer, the release and screenings, and about K180 Studios’ other films and projects.
- To keep the sign-up form free of spam and abuse.
- To understand, in total, how people find and use the site.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
3. Who handles it
We share your information only with the service providers that help us run the site and send the updates:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores sign-ups.
- Google keeps K180’s list of sign-ups (Google Sheets) and provides Google Analytics.
- Microsoft provides Microsoft Clarity.
- Substack sends K180’s newsletter: when you sign up, we add your name and email to K180’s list there.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of K180 Studios, our visitors or others. If K180 Studios is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Your choices
4.1 Unsubscribe
Every email includes a link to unsubscribe. You can also contact us and we’ll remove you.
4.2 Access, update or delete
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Contact us (section 8) and we’ll take care of it.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your name and email while you’re subscribed to K180’s newsletter. When you unsubscribe, the emails stop. To have your details deleted from our records too, ask us (section 8) and we’ll delete them.
6. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. No system is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
7. Children’s privacy
This site isn’t intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have, we’ll delete it.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will appear on this page, with a new effective date.
